Huntsmere, Bromham
A home reconfigured for everyday ease, four paws included
- Huntsmere is a full reconfiguration of a detached family home in Bromham, designed for a client seeking to create a space that truly reflects her lifestyle and that of her two beloved French bulldogs. The project called for a thoughtful redesign of the internal layout to support both daily routines and quieter moments, with comfort, function, and flow guiding every decision.
The ground floor was opened up and reorganised to create a warm, liveable sequence of spaces that feel effortless to move through. A new kitchen and dining area became the heart of the home, with adjacent zones for working, relaxing, and spending time together. We introduced a snug with a log burner, a defined pantry and utility space, and more purposeful connections between rooms to make the house work intuitively around its owner's life.
Two design options were explored in depth to test how different interventions could maximise spatial use while maintaining a strong sense of calm and clarity. Each scheme balanced practicality with personal touches, from dedicated storage and quiet workspace to dog-friendly circulation and finishes designed for comfort and durability.
Throughout, the design celebrates subtle improvements that make a home feel more considered. Natural light was introduced through new skylights, the kitchen and living spaces were reoriented for better flow, and layers of function were added without compromising the overall feeling of openness.
