No. 13 Clair, Bristol Old Town
Reimagining the dental clinic
- No. 13 Clair is a completed cosmetic dentistry clinic located in the heart of Bristol’s Old Town, set within a Grade II listed building. The project presented a unique and rewarding challenge: to transform a neglected former office space into a state-of-the-art medical facility that meets the highest clinical standards while offering a calm, luxurious experience for both patients and staff.
The client’s vision was clear from the outset. The clinic needed to feel like a refined retreat, not a typical dental practice. Central to the brief was the design of a serene and welcoming reception area where patients could relax, unwind, and enjoy a drink before treatment. This environment was designed to reflect the clarity and care of the brand, setting the tone for a new kind of healthcare experience.
Behind the soft, elegant atmosphere lies a layer of technical precision. We worked closely with leading suppliers of dental equipment to design two high-performance clinical studios, each meeting strict regulatory requirements without compromising on comfort or aesthetic quality. A top-of-the-line laboratory was positioned on the upper floor to function both as a support space for the studios and as a self-sufficient technical environment, complete with direct access to a central clean room. This clean room was of critical importance to the workflow and demanded meticulous coordination throughout the design process.
The clinic also includes a staff kitchen, changing rooms, WC facilities, and an office, all designed with the same attention to detail, spatial clarity, and material consistency found throughout. While the project demanded the precision often associated with hospital environments, it also offered us the opportunity to craft something rare: a clinic that feels deeply human.
No. 13 Clair brings together regulatory rigour and spatial elegance. Clinical accuracy supports a setting rooted in care, calm, and quiet confidence. It was a pleasure to bring this vision to life and to work on a project that asked us to design at the intersection of medical precision and refined hospitality.
