Coastmere, Beachfield Road
Contemporary coastal living with a deep respect for place
- Coastmere is a carefully considered collection of ten new dwellings, occupying the former Belgrave Hotel site along Beachfield Road. Our aim was to create a development that felt rooted in its coastal setting; respectful of the local vernacular while offering a thoughtful response to modern family life.
At street level, two blocks of townhouses front onto Beachfield Road, continuing the rhythm and material character of the existing streetscape. Their form and detailing echo the language of the surrounding architecture, helping to ground the new homes in their context. Internally, these generous dwellings are designed to be light-filled and flexible, making full use of the coastal aspect and supporting the everyday demands of family living.
The lower part of the site accommodates a terrace of four two-bedroom homes, our contemporary interpretation of the townhouse typology. These smaller dwellings were designed with young families in mind, offering spacious living areas, well-connected gardens, and the kind of functionality that supports ease and comfort in daily life.
From the beginning, our focus was on creating homes that feel considered, comfortable, and connected to their surroundings. At Coastmere, we aimed to balance form and function in a way that supports everyday life while complementing the character of the place
